Soulbone to share stage with AkonOrganisers of the show, Zimswag, confirmed that the award-winning group and the United Kingdom-based Cynthia would be among the heavy hitters at the National Stadium.

"Since the show is about showcasing the beauty of Zimbabwe we are pleased to announce that Soulbone, the 2009 NAMA award winners and the soulful diva Cynthia from the UK will be some of the supporting acts at the Akon Live in Concert," a spokesperson said.

He said there were other talented artistes who would be performing although they were yet to confirm.

"There is a host of other performers who would be coming at the show and it would be one big party. As far as the momentum is concerned there is going to be a launch of the show this week in Harare where all the stakeholders would attend," he said. Soulbone is made up of four physically handicapped but talented vocalists and their debut Is It True was voted number five at last year’s ZTV top 50.

The group has toured extensively in the region and is credited for its soulful R&B hits. Cynthia has one album to her name, which she launched in February this year.

Topping the bill is the United States-based Senegalese R&B star Akon. Already, the gig will see some fans coming from as far afield as Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia.

Akon boasts of a string of hits including Lonely, which became the longest running single on the top of the chart spanning over 15 weeks, Don’t Matter, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and Ghetto.

His album titled Konvicted debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 285 000 copies in its first week. After only six weeks, Konvicted sold more than one million records in the US and more than 1,3 million worldwide.
