Akon Out Of SpeaksAkon Out Of Speaks: He posted his confirmation on Facebook. The multiple award-winning star, scheduled to perform at the National Sports Stadium on September 4, said through a wall posting: “Harare, Zimbabwe I am playing Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at the Harare Soccer Stadium (National Sports Stadium)!”

His official website (akon.com) was also updated yesterday to confirm the highly-anticipated show. “We know most people could not believe that we are bringing Akon to Zimbabwe and they have feared that he would not turn up after all but that Facebook wall post is evidence enough to prove that he is coming to Zimbabwe and he wants the whole world to know,” ZimSwag director Alex Goho said Tuesday.

“With that said, we would like to invite the corporates and even individuals to come on board and support us in our endeavour to bring Akon and Sean Paul to Zimbabwe.”

Akon’s official facebook page had 5 377 856 fans worldwide as of yesterday.

Thousands of people had also posted their comments in response to Akon’s confirmation.

“Zvimwe tingapotse asi kwaAkon hatisare ah (we could miss out on other things but not Akon’s show,)” read a comment by a Zimbabwean fan.

Akon's Offer From Justin BieberAkon's Offer From Justin Bieber: York: Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber loves playing pranks over phone and recently called R&B star Akon pretending to be his illegitimate son.The `Baby` hitmaker called the hip-hop singer after stealing his number from the phone of his manager Scooter, reported New York magazine.

"He was like, `Daddy, why don`t you love me?` It really scared Akon!" said Scooter. The 16-year-old singer was later asked about his telephone tricks by a fan on Twitter and he admitted making prank calls to people is one of his favourite pastimes.

"R u Kidding of course I do!! I prank everyone!! No 1 is safe (sic)" he wrote. Although Bieber is constantly surrounded by his management, bodyguards and publicist, he admitted he sometimes feels overwhelmed by the devotion he is shown by his fans.

"It`s definitely amazing to me that I have such amazing fans. But, like, at the same time, I mean. I`m claustrophobic, really bad. I don`t like to be closed in," said Bieber.

Akon, Sean Paul to share stage: Organisers of the Akon Live in Concert have announced that dancehall king Sean Paul will take part in the star-studded show scheduled for September 4, in Harare. The Ever Blazing hitmaker has already signed a contract with Zimswag, the organisers of the show, joining Cynthia Mare and the R’n’B boy band Soulbone as a supporting act although others are being lined up.

According to Seal Paul’s website, "Sean Paul’s back, and he’s about to bring the heat this summer."The Jamaican dancehall superstar first sparked the world in 2002 with his breakout hit, "Gimme The Light", and the fire has been burning brightly ever since.

Akon For New Album; Sets October Release

With the buzz for Kelly Rowland’s new material at all-time high, the 29 year old has revealed  that her 3rd studio album will now be hitting stores on October 26th.  The record had previously been set to hit retailers on September 21st, however was postponed due to the Destiny’s Child singer hitting the studio with some of the industry’s biggest hitmakers.

Speaking of which, Rowland also confirmed that label-mate Akon will be producing on the as yet untitled album. The singer/songwriter  /producer joins the all-star cast who have collaborated with Rowland on the record – inclusive being Tricky Stewart, Ne-Yo, David Guetta, Rico Love, Bangladesh, Jim Jonsin, Ester Dean, Dr Luke and Stargate.

Soulbone to share stage with AkonOrganisers of the show, Zimswag, confirmed that the award-winning group and the United Kingdom-based Cynthia would be among the heavy hitters at the National Stadium.

"Since the show is about showcasing the beauty of Zimbabwe we are pleased to announce that Soulbone, the 2009 NAMA award winners and the soulful diva Cynthia from the UK will be some of the supporting acts at the Akon Live in Concert," a spokesperson said.

He said there were other talented artistes who would be performing although they were yet to confirm.

"There is a host of other performers who would be coming at the show and it would be one big party. As far as the momentum is concerned there is going to be a launch of the show this week in Harare where all the stakeholders would attend," he said. Soulbone is made up of four physically handicapped but talented vocalists and their debut Is It True was voted number five at last year’s ZTV top 50.

Akon set for Zim concertIntenational msic star Akon is coming to Zimbabwe for a concert which organisers hope will draw the music icon's fans from the whole of Southern Africa.

The US-born Senegalese singer-songwriter cum producer is set to perform at the 60 000 seater National Sports in Harare on September 4.

The concert is being organized by Zimswag, a company composed of Zimbabweans based in the United Kingdom. Clive Mutyasira one of the organisers of the event confirmed the deal to bring Akon had been sealed.

SINGER Akon’s ex-crime life threatens gig ?

Fears abound that the United States-based Senegalese R&B singer could face problems with the Immigration Department because of his previous criminal convictions. According to the Immigration Act, someone who was once convicted of a specified crime, regardless of where this was, is prohibited from entering Zimbabwe unless special arrangements have been made.

Some of the offences cited include treason, sedition of public violence, rape, theft, fraud, robbery and dealing in or being in possession of dangerous or habit-forming drugs or being in possession of any pipes or other utensils used in connection with the smoking of such drugs.

Akon to perform in Zimbabwe in September

Senegalese-born US musician Akon is billed to perform in Harare in September in a one-off live concert, a private radio station reported here Monday. Radio VOP said the show, dubbed “It’s the Real Deal Concert” was being sponsored by the Zimbabwe National Arts Council, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association, Interfin Banking Corporation and Zimswag Productions.

The concert is scheduled to take place on September 4 at the Chinese built National Sports Stadium in Harare. Akon will join a growing list of musicians that have come to Zimbabwe for shows during the past two years such as R&B star Joe Thomas and reggae icon Sizzla.

RnB singer Akon coming to Zim.He is expected to hold a concert on September 4 at the National Sports Stadium. Blessing Nyambuya, the director of Zimswag, one of the organisers, confirmed the show.

"Akon is coming in September. "Preparations for the show are at an advanced stage and what is left now is to secure the state-of- the-art equipment needed for the show, which we are currently doing."

Nyambuya however, said they were yet to come up with a list of local musicians who will share the stage with the international artiste.

A 25-member entourage that will include DJs and upcoming stars, would accompany the high profile singer, in an event that promises to be the biggest show in the arts sector in recent years.
