"Akon is coming in September. "Preparations for the show are at an advanced stage and what is left now is to secure the state-of- the-art equipment needed for the show, which we are currently doing."

Nyambuya however, said they were yet to come up with a list of local musicians who will share the stage with the international artiste.

A 25-member entourage that will include DJs and upcoming stars, would accompany the high profile singer, in an event that promises to be the biggest show in the arts sector in recent years.

Lady Gaga Is currently preparing to record her first studio album since her debut album 'The Fame,' which propelled her like a rocket onto the pop scene. Akon, the rapper who signed Gaga to his record label two years ago says the new album is going to be quite a respectable batch of jams.

According to Vibe Gaga has been recording on the road in her on tour bus studio producing tracks which Akon has been blown away with every night. He tells Vibe that the songs she’s been producing for the new album are "bigger and better" than anything to date.

Say what you will about Lady Gaga, but that girl knows music. She's been studying piano since she was four, wrote a piano ballad when she was thirteen. She was even granted early admissions to New York's Tisch School of the Arts. Not to mention managing to crank out admittedly catchy, original tunes back to back. For this reason she has become the only real current pop act I've been interested in. No say yet to when the new record will be released. But Akon stands strong behind his label signed act saying that it will truly be a great new album.

The Maldives is in the process of finalizing sponsors for the Akon concert with the tentative date now set for April 23, after the show initially scheduled for Sri Lanka sparked a controversy there.As for the moment the show is tentative until the sponsors are found, Hussain Furushaan, Head of Creative and Events Director of the Highrise Pvt. Ltd. told the Asian Tribune.

“We are currently working on sponsors and the event will be fully confirmed once we get them,” Furushaan said.The Highrise Pvt. Ltd in the Maldives has signed with Platinum Entertainment who is in the Maldives presently, as their agency and acting as the service provider.“For now it is tentative... and if we do have it, it will be at the Ekuvveni outdoor stadium on April 23.”

"I've been real fortunate where I have great people around me," Nelly told MTV recently.
